Kosmik is winding down

Kosmik is winding down

After several years building Kosmik alongside this amazing community, we’ve decided that Kosmik will sunset on May 31st 2026.

This wasn’t an easy decision. Kosmik has been a big part of our lives for the past 8 years and it wouldn't have existed without you. The creativity we’ve seen on canvases has inspired us every single day.

From research boards and visual libraries to creative explorations and team presentations, you turned Kosmik into a space for thinking, collecting, and building ideas visually.

We tried to create something different, a software that would offer a new take on the desktop metaphor. We still believe that something like Kosmik is needed and we're exploring several options to continue our work on spatial interfaces and document-oriented systems. Some marquee dates from Kosmik history:

In 2018 Kosmik was the first app to allow you to store your data locally through an on-device IPFS node while offering multiplayer capabilities.

In 2022 Kosmik introduced the first multiplayer web-browser (demoed at Betaworks ThinkCAMP!).

And in 2025 we introduced Kosmik 3, a synthesis of all of our work in a whole new app made to be easier to use and more responsive while preserving our built-in browser and adding auto-tagging, AI search and more…

To our users, investors, and community, thank you so much for everything! If you'd like to get in touch to get help, share your ideas, feedback, or just discuss you can write to hello@kosmik.app or book a call with me.

See you very soon, Paul.
